Everywhere around us there is noise. Our hearts and lives are much like a radio. If you turn a radio on to a random place all you hear is static which doesn’t make sense. When not in tune with God we hear static. Like radio signals travelling through the air, God always calls to us.
The whispers of the spirit are everywhere as the psalmist tells us “The heavens tell the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge” (Psalm 19:1-2).
His call, pure and simple, is for us to love him and follow his ways. He works in and through our hearts to hear and respond to his voice which we hear as music. Searching we find music through the static.
Do you hear static or music? To listen for God’s voice in your life, remain open and receptive to hear. Then find a quiet place to listen to the spirit with your soul, not ears. The more you listen to God’s soul music, the more you see. The more you listen, His thoughts about the world become yours and slowly, over time, your heart transforms and becomes one with the heart of God.
