When Discouraged: 6 Verses to Find Hope

When you wake up discouraged, feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders, asking what difference you are making in the world and feeling as if nothing matters, remember these promises from God’s Word:

  • “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,” Deuteronomy 31:8.
  • “David also said to Solomon his son, ‘Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished,’” 1 Chronicles 28:20.
  • “This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s,’” 2 Chronicles 20:15.
  • “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers,” Galatians 6:9-10.
  • “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him,” James 1:12.
  • “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened,” Matthew 7:7-8.

If you’re discouraged today, seek Him and He will give you hope to persevere.

Dear Lord,

When we are discouraged, You encourage us to seek a word from You. Scriptures give us hope to persevere through our troubles. You are always faithful to speak to us. Give us hope to carry on.

Amen.
