This week’s theme for Advent is hope.
Hope is a promise for the future. Faith helps us to find hope when depressed, going through hard times and even in those seemingly hopeless situations.
Where Can We Find Hope
During difficult times we lose hope and we despair, but to get hope back in your life God’s promises are a good place to start. For God always fulfills his promises. Look at the promises below.
- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3
- And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:5
- Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace. 2 Thessalonians 2:6
How to Get Hope Back in Your Life
Christ will give you living hope which is more like an active verb instead of a noun. Hope bubbling up through your life as you go about your holiday busyness.
There are things to be hopeful for during the holiday season, short lines, patience, no stress, good health, good family times, etc. yet none of those are living hope.
The living hope of Jesus moves and breathes in and around you even as you are busy. Living hope gives life and helps you navigate through the busy holiday season.
Advent reminds you it’s possible to have hope in your life. There is hope in a Messiah. Hope for the future and a better world. You find hope in God and His promises to never leave us, to always guide us, to guard us, restore us, build us up and strengthen us, among others.
Action Step: Place your hope in one of God’s promises.
Scripture: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13.
