Christ the Power Source

Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow.” 2 Chronicles 25:8

When I first saw the guy rowing the small motorboat, I assumed the engine didn’t work and needed repair. Yet when I saw the guy pull up to the dock and his friend hop in and start the engine up, I wondered why this guy struggled with the oars when he could have just started the motor.

It’s the same for our Christian walk. When we try to do things in our own power and limited resources, we become like the guy using oars to power the motorboat and we wear ourselves out.

If you’re struggling to do things in your own power, remember there’s a greater power available to you, Jesus. Christ is the motor for your boat, and you don’t have to struggle with the oars. Instead, Jesus offers His power to accomplish what you can’t do on our own.

When we start the engine, we find all the power we need as we pray, trust, and obey. His power becomes ours.

Christ the power source to…

  • Do what’s right.
  • Persevere when everything is hopeless.
  • Be yourself.
  • Accept yourself.
  • Find peace and contentment – no matter your circumstances.
  • Find joy amidst sorrow.
  • Walk the path before you.
  • Go against the cultural flow.
  • Love, even the most difficult people.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the reminder that You have the power to help me no matter the circumstances I find myself in. That I can rely on Your power and not my own.

Amen
